NCT ID NCT06956781
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study aims to find out which parts of behavioral therapy work best for children aged 8-17 with PTSD after a traumatic event. Researchers will compare different therapy components, like emotion regulation and exposure, to a placebo. 200 children and their caregivers will participate in weekly sessions to see what reduces PTSD symptoms most effectively.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Behavioral therapy components (emotion regulation, exposure, cognitive processing, bi-lateral stimulation)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could identify the most effective therapy components for treating PTSD in children, leading to better, more personalized care.
What could go wrong
This is an early-stage study comparing components, not a full treatment. Results may not apply to all children or settings, and some components may not work as expected.
