First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Jun 01, 2026 · Updated 34 times
Summary
This pilot study enrolls 45 adults who take opioids daily and are scheduled for spine surgery at least four weeks away. Participants are randomly assigned to receive either opioid tapering education alone or education plus cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). The goal is to see if CBT helps more patients successfully lower their opioid dose before surgery, potentially leading to better recovery and less dependence.
