New drug could slash opioid use after kidney stone surgery

Summary

This study tests whether adding a new non-opioid painkiller called suzetrigine to standard pain management can reduce opioid use and complications after ureteroscopic surgery for kidney stones. About 100 adults aged 21-80 will receive either suzetrigine or placebo alongside usual care. The goal is to lower pain, opioid consumption, and unplanned hospital visits.
