NCT ID NCT07672015
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jul 07, 2026 · Updated 4 times
Summary
This study tests whether suzetrigine, a non-opioid painkiller, can help patients who are at high risk for long-term opioid use after surgery. About 100 people having major orthopedic surgery will be randomly assigned to receive either standard pain care or standard care plus suzetrigine for 14 days. The main goal is to see if suzetrigine reduces the total amount of opioids taken after surgery.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- Suzetrigine (Journavx), a non-opioid painkiller
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this could offer a safer, non-addictive way to manage post-surgery pain and reduce the risk of long-term opioid use.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small, early-phase trial with only 100 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The drug may not reduce opioid use as hoped.
