New pain block may cut opioid need after chest surgery

Summary
This study tests two different nerve blocks—Serratus Posterior Superior Intercostal Plane Block (SPSIPB) and Thoracic Paravertebral Block—to see which better controls pain and reduces opioid use after open chest surgery. 48 adults undergoing lung surgery will receive one of the blocks. The goal is to improve pain relief and breathing recovery while lowering the need for strong painkillers.
