Can a daily Omega-3 pill beat burnout and boost sleep in obesity?
NCT ID NCT06991296
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study is testing whether a daily omega-3 supplement called SPM Active® can increase certain fatty acids in the blood and improve feelings of burnout, life satisfaction, and sleep quality. Researchers will enroll 33 adults aged 45-60 with obesity (BMI 30-40). Participants will take two capsules daily for 12 weeks and provide blood samples and surveys before and after. The goal is to see if this supplement can help with common wellness issues in people with obesity.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
SPM Active® (specialized pro-resolving mediators from omega-3 fatty acids)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could point toward a simple supplement to help ease burnout and improve sleep quality in people with obesity.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage study with only 33 participants and no placebo group, so results may not be reliable or apply to everyone. The supplement is not a treatment for obesity itself.
