NCT ID NCT05772052
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 2 times
Summary
This study looks at whether people with obesity who also have binge eating or food addiction experience tastes differently than those without these behaviors. Researchers will measure sweet and salty taste thresholds in 300 participants and compare groups. The goal is to understand why some people overeat calorie-dense foods and to eventually create tailored dietary plans for lasting weight loss.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
What this could lead to
If successful, this could help design personalized diets for people with obesity and eating disorders, making weight loss easier to maintain.
What could go wrong
This is an observational study, not a treatment trial. It may find no clear link between taste and eating behavior, or the results may not apply to everyone with obesity.
