Summary
Acute-on-chronic liver failure (ACLF) is a sudden, life-threatening worsening of long-term liver disease that often leads to multiple organ failure. Standard scoring systems may miss key signs of inflammation and organ damage. This study compares two newer scoring models—the CLIF-C ACLF-D and MELD-complication scores—against traditional ones to see which best predicts death within 28 days. Researchers will follow 100 adults admitted to the ICU with ACLF, tracking their survival and comparing the accuracy of each scoring system.
