Free healthy meals and group support show promise for heart health in black communities
NCT ID NCT06460272
First seen Jan 10, 2026 · Last updated May 19, 2026 · Updated 20 times
Summary
This study tested whether providing free, culturally tailored healthy meals (14 per week for 10 weeks) plus weekly group support sessions could help Black adults with high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, obesity, or metabolic syndrome. 75 participants were split into three groups: meals only, meals plus group support, or a waitlist. The main goal was to see if the program was practical and well-liked, not to cure the conditions. Results will guide future heart health programs.
