Glasses that see seizures coming: new wearable aims to predict epilepsy attacks
NCT ID NCT07139457
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests a pair of smart glasses called NEXA that can read brain signals through dry electrodes. The glasses aim to predict epileptic seizures in real time and alert the wearer with vibrations, lights, or sounds. Researchers will test the device on 47 adults with epilepsy to see if it can detect seizures with at least 95% accuracy in everyday settings.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Wearable seizure prediction and alert glasses (NEXA glasses)
What this could lead to
If successful, these glasses could give people with epilepsy a reliable early warning before a seizure, improving safety and quality of life.
What could go wrong
This is an early-stage study with only 47 participants in Oman. The device is not yet approved and may not work as well in broader, real-world use.
