Balloon breakthrough: new device could supercharge cardiac arrest resuscitation

NCT ID NCT06793033

First seen Nov 17, 2025 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 25 times

Summary

This study tests a new device called NEURESCUE, a balloon that is inserted into a leg artery and inflated to send more blood to the heart and brain during cardiac arrest. About 84 adults with witnessed cardiac arrest and a non-shockable heart rhythm will be randomly assigned to receive either standard emergency care or standard care plus the NEURESCUE device. The goal is to see if the device helps restore a shockable rhythm or return of spontaneous circulation safely.
