Could a Placenta-Based bandage heal stubborn leg wounds?
NCT ID NCT06930768
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether a special wound covering made from donated human placental tissue, called NeoThelium FT, can help heal venous leg ulcers when used with standard care. About 132 adults with open leg ulcers that haven't healed well will be randomly assigned to get either the placental dressing plus standard care or standard care alone. The main goal is to see if more ulcers close completely with the new treatment.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
NeoThelium FT (a dehydrated wound covering made from donated human placental tissue)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could provide a new, effective treatment to help heal stubborn venous leg ulcers faster.
What could go wrong
This trial hasn't started yet and is relatively small (132 people). The treatment may not heal ulcers better than standard care alone, and there could be risks like infection or allergic reaction.
