Can cooking oil tweak fat metabolism? new study recruits 40 women for bariatric surgery prep

NCT ID NCT07027033

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study looks at whether eating oil rich in oleic acid (like some sunflower oils) can improve how fat tissue processes cholesterol in women with obesity. Forty women scheduled for bariatric surgery will take either oleic-rich or regular sunflower oil for 13 weeks. Researchers will then measure cholesterol changes in fat samples taken during surgery to see if the oil helps reduce inflammation and metabolic risks.
