Can simple exercises help diabetic seniors stay steady on their feet?
NCT ID NCT07293507
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study compares two types of exercise programs—Modified Otago Exercises and Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization Exercises—to see which better improves balance and daily living activities in older adults with diabetic peripheral neuropathy. The trial will involve 36 participants aged 60 and older who have had type 2 diabetes for at least 5 years and have nerve damage in their feet. The goal is to help patients move more safely and independently.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
exercise programs (Modified Otago Exercises and Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization Exercises)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could point toward a simple, effective exercise routine to help older adults with diabetic nerve damage improve their balance and daily function, reducing fall risk.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage trial with only 36 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. Exercise programs require consistent effort, and individual results may vary.
