Could plugging brain arteries stop migraines? small study aims to find out.

NCT ID NCT07223008

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Apr 28, 2026 · Updated 25 times

Summary

This early study tests whether blocking the middle meningeal arteries (using a plug-like material called Onyx) is safe and possible for people with hard-to-treat chronic migraines. The idea is that blocking these arteries may reduce migraine-triggering substances reaching the brain. About 13 adults with bilateral chronic migraines will be followed for 8 months, keeping a headache diary and continuing their usual migraine medications.
