New knee implant aims to ease arthritis pain without major surgery
NCT ID NCT06843980
First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests a device called the MISHA Knee System, a small implant placed under the skin near the knee to absorb shock and reduce pain from medial knee osteoarthritis. Researchers will compare it to non-surgical treatments like physical therapy and medication in 100 adults who haven't found relief. The goal is to see if the implant improves pain and knee function after 6 months.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
MISHA Knee System (a knee implant that absorbs shock to reduce pressure on the inner knee)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer a new option for people with knee osteoarthritis who haven't found relief from non-surgical treatments, potentially reducing pain and improving function.
What could go wrong
This is an early head-to-head study with only 100 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The implant requires surgery, which carries risks like infection or device issues.
