Mindfulness program added to Weight-Loss drugs shows promise in small trial

NCT ID NCT07649759

First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tests whether a 16-week mindfulness-based nutrition group program is feasible and acceptable for adults with obesity who are already taking GLP-1 medications. Forty participants will either join the group program plus usual care or receive usual care alone. The program includes mindful eating exercises, journaling, and peer support. The goal is to see if people find it helpful and stick with it, not to test a new drug.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

mindfulness-based nutritional group therapy (behavioral intervention)

What this could lead to

If successful, this program could offer a practical, non-drug way to improve eating habits and emotional well-being for people already on GLP-1 medications for obesity.

What could go wrong

This is a small, early feasibility study with only 40 participants, so results may not apply widely. It does not test a new drug, and the main goal is to see if the program is acceptable, not whether it causes weight loss.
