Artery embolization for migraines: hope or hype?

NCT ID NCT07652034

First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study follows 50 adults with migraines who have had or plan to have a procedure called middle meningeal artery embolization as part of their regular care. Researchers will look at how headache frequency, severity, medication use, and quality of life change over 12 months. The goal is to gather real-world data, not to test the procedure itself.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

middle meningeal artery embolization (procedure)

What this could lead to

If results are promising, this could point toward a larger trial to see if artery embolization is a safe and effective option for migraine relief.

What could go wrong

This is a small, early observational study, not a controlled trial. It cannot prove the procedure works, and results may not apply to all migraine patients.
