Common diabetes pill tested to stop mouth cancer before it starts

Summary

This study is testing if a drug called metformin, taken as a pill and applied as a gel, can shrink or stop white patches in the mouth (oral leukoplakia) from turning into cancer. It will involve 34 adults with these pre-cancerous patches. The goal is to see if this combined treatment is a safe and effective way to prevent cancer development.
