New imaging tool could make mouth biopsies more accurate

NCT ID NCT05554133

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tests a new imaging device called the Active Biopsy Guidance System to help doctors decide when and where to take tissue samples (biopsies) from mouth lesions. About 90 adults with suspicious mouth spots or a history of oral cancer will participate. The goal is to see if the device can accurately identify which lesions need a biopsy, potentially reducing unnecessary procedures.
