NCT ID NCT04828785

First seen Jun 27, 2026 ยท Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tested whether providing medically tailored meals (10 ready-to-eat meals per week for 6 months) plus phone-based lifestyle coaching could improve blood sugar control in adults with type 2 diabetes who also face food insecurity. 215 participants were randomly assigned to receive the meals or usual care plus a small monthly food subsidy. The main goal was to see if the meal program lowered hemoglobin A1c levels at 6 months, with a follow-up at 12 months to check lasting effects.
