Free meals for new moms: a small step toward postpartum weight control
NCT ID NCT05579990
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026
Summary
This study tested whether delivering healthy meals to the homes of low-income women with obesity could help them manage weight after giving birth. Eleven women received 10 meals per week plus remote support. The goal was to see if the program was practical and acceptable, not to measure weight loss. Results are limited due to the small size.

What this could lead to
If it works, this could point toward a practical way to help new mothers with obesity manage their weight after pregnancy.
What could go wrong
This is a very small feasibility study with only 11 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. It does not measure long-term weight loss or health outcomes.
