First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests whether a low dose of colchicine, an anti-inflammatory drug, can improve exercise capacity in people with heart failure and chronic inflammation. Sixty participants will be randomly assigned to receive either colchicine or a placebo for three months. Researchers will measure changes in exercise tests, physical function, and quality of life.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- Low dose colchicine (LoDoCo)
- What this could lead to
- If it works, this could point toward a new way to help people with heart failure feel less tired and move more easily.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small, early pilot study with only 60 people. The drug may not improve exercise capacity more than a placebo, and results may not apply to all heart failure patients.
