First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study follows 320 people who had omega gastric bypass surgery 10 years ago to compare long-term side effects between two surgical techniques (150 cm vs 200 cm loop). Researchers will check for serious complications, nutritional problems, and weight loss. The goal is to determine which method is safer over the long term.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

Omega gastric bypass surgery (with 150 cm or 200 cm biliary limb)

What this could lead to

If successful, this study could help surgeons choose the safer type of omega gastric bypass, reducing long-term complications for people with obesity.

What could go wrong

This is an observational study, not a treatment trial, so it won't directly test a new therapy. Results may take years and might not apply to all patients.
