Smart insoles could forecast knee surgery success

NCT ID NCT07367789

First seen Jun 27, 2026 ยท Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study is testing whether special insoles that measure how you walk can predict your recovery after knee replacement surgery. 200 adults with knee osteoarthritis will wear the insoles before surgery and complete questionnaires about their symptoms. Researchers will use computer models to see if walking patterns can forecast who will improve the most.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only โ€” not medical advice or a prediction.

What this could lead to
If successful, this could lead to a simple test using smart insoles to predict how well someone will recover after knee replacement surgery.
What could go wrong
This is an early observational study, not a treatment trial. The predictions may not be accurate enough to use in practice, and results may not apply to all patients.
