Scientists investigate why bone cancer patients face higher infection risk after joint replacement
NCT ID NCT07264296
First seen Jan 05, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 16 times
Summary
This study looks at why people with bone cancer (skeletal sarcoma) who get a metal implant to replace a joint are much more likely to get an infection than people who get a joint replacement for arthritis. Researchers will collect tissue and blood samples from 40 patients to compare the germs and the body's immune response. The goal is to understand what causes these infections, not to test a new treatment.
