Nose spray before stent surgery may shield heart

Summary

This study tests whether a medicine given as a nose spray before a heart stent procedure can reduce heart muscle injury or heart attack. About 1800 adults scheduled for elective stent placement will receive either the medicine or a placebo spray. Researchers will measure heart damage through blood tests and track any heart problems for 30 days after the procedure.
