Scans probe if new heart drugs calm hidden artery fire
NCT ID NCT05720156
Summary
This study aimed to understand how powerful cholesterol-lowering drugs (PCSK9 inhibitors) affect inflammation in the arteries of people with heart disease. Researchers planned to use a special imaging scan to measure inflammation in participants already on standard statin medication, comparing them to healthy volunteers. The goal was to gather knowledge about how these drugs work beyond just lowering cholesterol, which could inform future heart disease prevention strategies.
