Diet tweaks tested in seniors: eat less or eat within 8 hours?

NCT ID NCT05424042

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This pilot study tested whether older adults with extra weight could stick to either eating fewer calories or eating only within an 8-hour window for 9 months. About 90 people took part, with some getting in-person coaching and others doing it remotely. The goal was to see if these diets are doable, not to measure health benefits yet.

Active substance

calorie restriction and time-restricted eating

What this could lead to

If successful, this could show that simple dietary changes are feasible for older adults and pave the way for larger studies on healthy aging.

What could go wrong

This is a small pilot study focused on feasibility, not health outcomes. Results may not apply to all older adults, and long-term effects are unknown.
