Summary

This study tested whether a drug called GM-CSF can reduce new infections in ICU patients whose immune system is weakened after severe sepsis or septic shock. 166 adults were randomly given either GM-CSF or a placebo. The goal was to see if the drug could lower the number of hospital-acquired infections by day 28 or ICU discharge.
