Poop pills may shield cancer patients from deadly transplant complication
NCT ID NCT04935684
First seen Jun 13, 2026 · Last updated Jun 13, 2026
Summary
This study tests whether giving patients a fecal transplant (healthy donor stool) can prevent graft-versus-host disease, a serious complication where donor immune cells attack the patient's body after a stem cell transplant. About 150 adults with blood cancers like leukemia or lymphoma will receive either a fecal transplant or a placebo. The goal is to see if this approach helps patients stay free of GvHD and cancer relapse for at least a year.
