Brain scans reveal seizure damage in Kids' neural highways
NCT ID NCT03268824
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study looks at how seizures change the brain's wiring in children with drug-resistant focal epilepsy. Researchers will use special EEG recordings and MRI scans to measure brain connections in 82 children. The goal is to understand if ongoing seizure activity causes lasting damage to brain networks, which could help guide future surgical treatments.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
What this could lead to
If successful, this could help doctors better understand how seizures damage brain connections and improve surgical decisions for children with epilepsy.
What could go wrong
This is an observational study, not a treatment trial. It may not directly lead to new therapies, and results may not apply to all children with epilepsy.
