New therapy shows promise for OCD sufferers

Summary

This study tests whether a special kind of talk therapy, called Emotion-Focused Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), can reduce symptoms of Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD). About 36 adults with OCD will be randomly assigned to either ACT group therapy or a supportive group therapy for 10-12 weekly sessions. Researchers will measure changes in symptom severity, emotional awareness, and quality of life before and after treatment.
