Texting your way to a healthier heart after a heart attack

NCT ID NCT07331415

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tested whether monthly text messages with heart-health tips could help people who had a heart attack better control their risk factors and avoid future heart problems. 370 participants received either usual care or usual care plus text messages for one year. The goal was to see if the texts reduced events like another heart attack or stroke.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

text messaging

What this could lead to

If it works, this could offer a simple, low-cost way to help heart attack survivors stick to healthy habits and lower their risk of another event.

What could go wrong

This is a completed trial with 370 participants, so results are available but may not apply to everyone. Text messages alone may not be enough to change long-term behavior or prevent all complications.
