First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

Researchers will track how many cigarettes they smoke and how often they use the alternative product.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
e-cigarettes and oral nicotine pouches
What this could lead to
If successful, this study could show which non-combustible nicotine products and features (like flavor and nicotine level) best help smokers cut down on cigarettes.
What could go wrong
This is a small, short-term study (4 weeks) focused on behavior, not long-term health outcomes. Results may not apply to all smokers, and switching to these products still carries health risks.
