Blood clues may predict diabetes reversal after bariatric surgery
NCT ID NCT05472883
First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 16 times
Summary
This study aimed to find blood markers that could predict whether obese people with type 2 diabetes would go into remission after bariatric surgery. Researchers measured nine specific molecules in the blood of 23 participants before surgery and checked if those levels matched diabetes remission afterward. The study was terminated early, so results are limited, but the goal was to improve prediction of who benefits most from surgery.
