First seen Jun 27, 2026 ยท Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This early study tested whether a special MRI technique using inhaled xenon gas can detect brown adipose tissue (BAT) in healthy adults. Brown fat burns calories to generate heat, and researchers wanted to see if this imaging method could measure its activity. The study involved 17 healthy volunteers and was terminated early, but it aimed to improve understanding of obesity.
