First seen Aug 04, 2026 · Last updated Aug 05, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study compares how well women with overweight or obesity stick to a 10-week dance-based exercise program versus a clinical Pilates program. Participants, aged 18-60 with a BMI between 25 and 35, will be randomly assigned to one of the two supervised group programs, held twice weekly. The trial measures adherence, enjoyment, and changes in quality of life, physical activity, body measurements, and performance. The goal is to find which exercise approach is more acceptable and sustainable for this population.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
Dance-based exercise program or clinical Pilates program
What this could lead to
If one program proves more enjoyable and sustainable, it could offer a more effective, long-term exercise strategy for weight management in women with overweight or obesity.
What could go wrong
The trial is small (50 participants) and short (10 weeks), so results may not apply broadly. Adherence and outcomes could be similar between groups, and individual preferences vary.
