Sleep apnea patients may use CPAP more if they see how they stack up against others
NCT ID NCT07124975
First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether showing people with sleep apnea how their CPAP machine use compares to other patients helps them use it more consistently. About 186 adults who have been on CPAP for at least three months will be split into two groups: one gets routine feedback on their own usage, and the other also sees how they rank among all participants. The goal is to see if this comparison boosts adherence over six months.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
behavioral intervention: comparing CPAP usage data with other patients
What this could lead to
If it works, this could point toward a simple, low-cost way to help people with sleep apnea stick with their CPAP therapy.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage study with only 186 participants. The effect may be small or not last long, and results may not apply to everyone.
