First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 2 times

Summary

This study compares two weight-loss surgeries—SASI bypass and sleeve gastrectomy—in 220 adults with severe obesity. The goal is to see which one leads to more weight loss and fewer problems like acid reflux. Participants will be randomly assigned to one of the two procedures and followed for changes in BMI and reflux symptoms.

Active substance

surgical procedure (SASI bypass or sleeve gastrectomy)

What this could lead to

If successful, this could show which surgery is better for long-term weight loss and reducing acid reflux in people with severe obesity.

What could go wrong
