Battle of the bypass fixes: which procedure helps regain weight better?

NCT ID NCT06131281

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This trial compares two versions of a procedure called TORe, which is used to help people who have regained weight after gastric bypass surgery. One version is the classic TORe, and the other is a newer version called ESD-TORe. The study will look at which one leads to more weight loss and is safer. About 70 adults who have had gastric bypass and regained weight will take part.

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

Endoscopic procedure (TORe or ESD-TORe)

What this could lead to

If successful, this could show which version of the TORe procedure is better for helping people lose weight after gastric bypass, potentially leading to a more effective and safer standard treatment.

What could go wrong

This is a small, early-stage trial (70 people) comparing two similar procedures. It may not find a clear winner, and results might not apply to everyone. As with any procedure, there are risks like bleeding or infection.
