Can speech therapy help those losing their words? new trial aims to find out
NCT ID NCT06191198
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests two types of speech therapy for adults with mild-to-moderate primary progressive aphasia, a condition that slowly impairs language. Researchers will compare the therapies in 200 participants to see which better improves communication and reduces caregiver burden. The goal is to find an effective, evidence-based treatment to help people maintain their ability to talk and connect with others.

What this could lead to
If successful, this could provide an effective speech therapy program to help people with primary progressive aphasia communicate better and improve quality of life.
What could go wrong
This is a Phase 2 trial with 200 participants, so results are still preliminary. The therapy may not work for everyone, and benefits might be modest.
