First seen Mar 10, 2026 · Last updated Apr 28, 2026 · Updated 6 times

Summary

This study tested whether the anti-inflammatory drug colchicine could reduce complications like irregular heartbeat, heart sac inflammation, and heart damage after coronary artery bypass surgery. One hundred adults who had a recent heart attack and needed bypass surgery took either colchicine or a placebo for 30 days after surgery. The goal was to see if colchicine could help prevent these common post-surgery problems.
