Can online therapy help MS patients sleep better and protect their brains?
NCT ID NCT06434571
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests two ways of delivering cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I) to people with multiple sclerosis: one-on-one telehealth sessions or a self-guided web program. Researchers will compare these to usual care to see which improves sleep, reduces fatigue, and enhances quality of life. They will also explore whether better sleep may help protect the brain. The trial enrolls 90 adults aged 18–65 with relapsing-remitting or secondary progressive MS and mild-to-moderate disability.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I) delivered via telehealth or web-based platform
What this could lead to
If successful, this could provide an effective, accessible treatment for insomnia and fatigue in people with multiple sclerosis, potentially also supporting brain health.
What could go wrong
This is a Phase 2 trial with only 90 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The exploratory brain protection goal is very early and uncertain.
