CBD oil tested for breast cancer drug side effect
NCT ID NCT06538389
First seen Apr 29, 2026 · Last updated Jun 22, 2026 · Updated 7 times
Summary
This study tests whether a high-CBD plant extract can reduce joint stiffness and pain in women with breast cancer who take aromatase inhibitors. These drugs lower estrogen to prevent cancer return but often cause painful joints, leading some women to stop treatment. The trial will give 36 women either CBD or a placebo to see if CBD helps them stay on their cancer therapy with less discomfort.

What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
cannabidiol (CBD) plant extract (BRC-001)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer a natural way to manage joint pain from breast cancer hormone therapy, helping women stick with their treatment.
What could go wrong
This is a small early-phase trial with only 36 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. CBD can cause side effects like drowsiness or liver issues, and it may not reduce pain better than a placebo.
