This study follows 200 people with cancers of the esophagus, stomach, pancreas, colon, or rectum who are scheduled for surgery, along with some healthy controls. Researchers will track weight, muscle mass, physical activity, quality of life, and immune markers over a year to better understand cachexia—a condition causing muscle wasting and fatigue.
