First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This Phase 1 study looks at how CagriSema, semaglutide, and cagrilintide affect muscle health in 100 adults aged 50-70 with obesity and slightly high blood sugar. Participants will receive one of the drugs or a placebo for up to 15 months. The main goal is to measure how well muscles take up sugar after insulin stimulation.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
CagriSema (cagrilintide and semaglutide), cagrilintide, semaglutide
What this could lead to
If successful, this could show that these weight-loss drugs preserve or improve muscle health during weight loss, potentially leading to better treatments for obesity.
What could go wrong
This is an early Phase 1 trial with only 100 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The study focuses on muscle changes, not long-term weight loss or safety.
