First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tests whether training the muscles you use to breathe in can help midlife women with hot flashes, sleep problems, and blood pressure. Thirty women aged 45-60 will use a breathing device daily for 6 weeks. Researchers will measure changes in hot flash frequency, sleep quality, and nerve activity related to blood pressure.

What this could lead to

If it works, this could offer a simple, drug-free way to ease hot flashes and improve sleep and blood pressure in menopausal women.

What could go wrong

This is a small, early-stage study with only 30 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The training requires daily effort, and benefits may be modest.
