New microscope could help surgeons spot brain tumor borders in real time

NCT ID NCT05513859

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This early study tests a new imaging technique called qOBM that may help brain surgeons see tumor edges more clearly during surgery. About 24 adults with certain brain tumors (glioblastoma, astrocytoma, or oligodendroglioma) will have the device used during their planned tumor removal. The goal is to check if qOBM is safe and reliable for finding tumor margins, which could lead to more complete tumor removal.
