Night-Time blood pressure drops may hold key to heart risk

NCT ID NCT04522765

First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026

Summary

This study looks at how blood pressure and artery stiffness change over 24 hours in people at increased risk for heart disease, especially those with kidney problems. Researchers will monitor 120 participants using a wearable device and collect blood and urine samples. The goal is to understand why some people's blood pressure doesn't drop enough at night, which is linked to higher heart risk, and to guide better timing of medication.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

What this could lead to

If successful, this could help doctors better tailor when to give blood pressure medication to reduce heart disease risk.

What could go wrong

This is an observational study, not a treatment trial. It will not directly test any new drug or therapy, so benefits are indirect and long-term.
